Frequently Asked Questions
Questions people ask
How much is my app worth?
Most apps sell for a multiple of their net profit over the last twelve months. App businesses sold on Flippa in the first half of 2026 went for about 2.6 times annual profit on average, and the top quarter for about 5.5 times. The calculator starts at 2.6x and moves it for the app's age, revenue trend, revenue model, stores and the time it takes to run.
Why does the calculator use profit and not revenue?
A buyer pays for the cash the app will hand them. Two apps with the same revenue but different server, API and ad costs are worth different amounts, so app sales are quoted as multiples of net profit. Enter revenue after the store's fee and leave your own pay out of the costs, since the buyer takes over the work.
What raises an app's multiple?
Recurring revenue, a growing trend, a long track record, little owner time and not depending on one platform. In the calculator subscriptions add 0.4x, growing revenue 0.6x, an age over 3 years 0.3x, both stores 0.2x and under 5 owner hours a week 0.2x. Falling revenue takes 0.8x off, an age under 1 year 0.4x, one-time sales 0.3x, over 10 owner hours a week 0.3x and ads 0.2x.
Are the adjustments official figures?
No. The 2.6x base and the 5.5x ceiling come from Flippa's H1 2026 report and the 1.2x floor from Empire Flippers. The adjustments are our model of what those sources say moves a multiple, and the result lists each one it applied so you can weigh it yourself.
What is an app with no profit worth?
There is no profit to multiply, so the calculator shows no figure. Buyers price a pre-revenue or loss-making app case by case, on its users, its code and what they could do with it. For profitable apps the calculator never goes below 1.2x annual profit, the average of distressed sales on Empire Flippers.
Should I use an annual or a monthly multiple?
Both describe the same price, since a year has twelve months: 2.6 times annual profit is 31.2 times monthly profit. Empire Flippers moved to annual multiples, where it puts a typical sale at 2.2x and a distressed one at 1.2x, so the calculator works in annual profit and shows the monthly multiple next to it for older quotes.
Will a buyer pay this price?
The range is a model, not an appraisal. The final price depends on the buyer, the due diligence, how clean the books are and the deal terms. Use it as a starting point before you talk to a broker or a buyer.
Is the calculator free?
Yes. There is no account, no sign-up and no limit, and nothing you type leaves your browser.
